Many philanthropic decisions intersect with broader financial, estate, tax, and family considerations. Hagel Philanthropy works collaboratively with financial advisors, estate planning attorneys, CPAs, trust officers, and nonprofit professionals to help clients explore charitable planning ideas that may align with their broader goals and values.

Our role is not to replace existing advisors or provide legal, tax, or investment advice. Rather, we aim to serve as a thoughtful philanthropic planning resource and conversation partner where charitable goals and community impact are part of the discussion.

A Collaborative Approach

Charitable planning conversations are often most effective when approached collaboratively rather than transactionally.

We may work alongside advisors whose clients are:
• Exploring charitable giving strategies
• Considering legacy and impact goals
• Evaluating appreciated asset giving opportunities
• Interested in charitable trusts, gift annuities, or donor-advised funds
• Balancing family and philanthropic priorities
• Looking for a more intentional approach to giving
• Thinking about long-term charitable impact

The objective is thoughtful coordination and perspective ,  helping charitable discussions fit appropriately within the client’s broader planning framework.

Areas of Focus

Hagel Philanthropy focuses on philanthropic planning education, strategy discussions, and charitable giving concepts, including:

• Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
• Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs)
• Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs)
• Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs)
• Appreciated asset giving conversations
• Philanthropic legacy planning
• Giving strategies for individuals without heirs
• Nonprofit due diligence and charitable evaluation
• Family philanthropy discussions
• Strategic charitable planning concepts

Implementation of legal, tax, financial, and investment strategies remains the responsibility of the client’s professional advisors.

Perspective Rooted in Nonprofit Leadership

Founder Frank Hagel brings more than four decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, governance, and executive advisory work, including twenty-four years within the United Way system and extensive experience working with nonprofit boards, donors, and community organizations.

While Hagel Philanthropy is a newer philanthropic advisory practice, its work is informed by a long career spent at the intersection of community impact, nonprofit strategy, donor engagement, and leadership.
